Happy 5 Months to my baby boy! I have seen so many amazing changes in the last month and can't wait to see what he learns during his 5th month of life. I have been so anxious to try paint with him so now that we have a highchair, I thought it was time to give it a go! I placed four generous squirts of paint inside a ziplock bag and used painters tape to secure it to the high chair tray. In truth, I think this activity would be better towards the end of 5 months or at 6 months as he enjoyed it after some time but had no idea what to do with it at the beginning. At first, the tape's texture around the edges was more fascinating to him then the actual paint splats but after showing him with my finger and a toy what he could do he started to scratch around in the paint and was happy to do so for several minutes. I will be trying this again along with other variations as he gets a little older and as the high chair becomes more "normal" to his everyday. Did you try this with your 5 month old? If so, how did your baby react?

Awesome Laci! I was just thinking the other day that I need to try this activity again now that Parker is getting closer to the 6.5 month mark! Such a big difference between early 5m and 6m+ ! Thanks for the comment and let me know if you try any others! Enjoy the feedback!

We did this for a gift for grandma. I taped off "grandma" on a canvas. Then put the paint dots on the canvas and stuck the whole thing in a zip lock bag. She played with it doing tummy time. At frist she didn't quite know what to do but after awhile i think she like the feeling of it (it was a little cold and its hot summer here) more then the colors! After- i took it out, let it dry and peeled the "grandma" tape away to reveal white and the words! gave it to my mother for a birthday gift, and framed pictures of us making it to go along with it. Easy fun and cute gift! I will definitely try this on a high chair for a fun activity- but adding paper in the zip lock would make for cute refrigerator art or wrapping paper!

Thanks so much for the comment and the great ideas! I love both the canvas project and the idea of using painting projects as wrapping paper :)

What a neat sensory play project. Our kids are a little bit younger but we still had fun. I would have to agree with Laci and her comments on this one.

Hey Rudy! Thanks for the feedback! So glad you guys had fun. I actually was just checking out the Brain Builders series to see what you were talking about... what a cool idea! We do not have or carry anything like that but definitely going to do a bit more research on it. Enjoy your little ones!
