Nanny FAQs
Is there a fee to apply or be placed through Choice Parenting?
No! It’s completely free to apply and be placed with a family.

Does Choice Parenting become my employer?
No. Families who hire you are your direct employer. We’re a referral agency only. We encourage both families and nannies to work with a payroll company to ensure proper payment, taxes, benefits, and compliance. Have a question about this and we are happy to explain and point you in the proper direction of experts who can inform you.

Does Choice Parenting take a cut of my pay?
Never. Families pay a one-time placement fee to us—you set your hourly rate, and families pay you directly. We also advocate for fair pay and benefits during the hiring process.

What is the typical nanny pay rate in the NYC metro area?

Most nannies earn $25–35 per hourly, depending on:
  • Education, experience, and special skills
  • Number of children and schedule requirements
  • Flexibility and household responsibilities
Benefits often include:
  • Paid vacation, holidays, and sick days
  • Guaranteed hours
  • Mileage or car use reimbursement (when applicable)
  • Metro /bus/public transportation fare or assistance
  • Other common benefits include: annual raises, year-end bonuses, additional pay and uber home when staying late in evening.

How do you match nannies with families?
We get to know both you and the family—not just your skills and schedule, but also your personality, communication style, childcare philosophy, and values. A great match is more than logistics—it’s about trust, chemistry, and creating a positive, lasting relationship in the family home.

How long does it take to find a job?
It depends on your location, experience, and the current market. Some nannies match quickly, while others take longer. If accepted, we’ll guide and support you throughout your search to help you connect with the right family as quickly as possible.
