What area does Choice Parenting serve?
We are based in Hoboken, NJ but our in person session can be held anywhere in Manhattan or within a 60 minute commute of Hoboken, NJ. We are also available for phone sessions or video conferences (Skype, Facetime, Google Hangout) if the distance is prohibitive. Please email Holly for any questions regarding distance and travel.
Where and when are the in person sessions held?
We are happy to schedule your in person session at a location that is convenient and comfortable for you. We often meet families in their homes, offices, or at a local coffee shop. We primarily offer in person sessions Monday- Friday 7am- 7pm but do our best to work out scheduled times for clients based on their schedule and needs. Sessions can usually be scheduled within a week or two of purchase dependent on your schedule. Feel free to email Holly for more information on location and times available.
What is the 'Family Assessment'?
This questionnaire will give you (and your partner) the opportunity to think through and communicate your family's needs, wants and child raising beliefs. We will take a look at the details of your schedule, career requirements, individual needs and aspirations, personality and emotional comfort zones, parenting style, household duties and more. This questionnaire is lengthy in size but easy and quick to complete with Adobe form checkboxes and comment sections and you only need to fill out only as much information as makes you feel comfortable. We ask all families to complete and send back this confidentially kept questionnaire before their consultation session, to give insight into your family's needs, so that we can better assist you. All Choice Parenting documents and template require the use of the free version of Adobe Reader.
What Is the 'Nanny Needs Questionnaire'?
The Nanny Needs Questionnaire comes with the Nanny Hiring Package to help you determine what type of nanny will best suit your family. We will ask you questions to help you communicate what you want your nanny to do (and not do!), how you want her to interact and treat your children, home and you as employers, the type of skills and experience she needs for the job and what important child raising philosophies that she needs to be on board with to ensure everyone is working well together.
What can I expect during the consulting session?
Together we will review the details of your Family Assessment. We will talk through any questions that you have regarding the childcare market in your area, go over any relevant paperwork/downloads that comes with your package, and discuss recommendation based on your family's profile. Consulting sessions times vary depending upon packages. The Choice Package, 45-60 minutes is usually a sufficient allotment of time to go over all information and questions. For the Nanny Hiring Package, 60-90 minutes is a more realistic expectation of time required to go over all documents and recommendations. If more time is needed based on your needs or questions, we can discuss a prorated hourly rate to continue the conversation or schedule another session in person or over the phone.
What should I expect after purchasing a consultation package?
After purchase, you will receive a link to download our “Choice Parenting Information Form” that should be returned to us as soon as possible via email. This simple form will give us an overview of your family’s situation, location options for the in person consultation (if applicable) and child's age/ due date.
We will send you an email within two business days to schedule your consultation along with a copy of the Family Assessment, Nanny Needs Questionnaire for the Nanny Hiring Package and all digital downloads that come with your package. These detailed questionnaire will help us determine what is most important to your family and to help us prepare the information that will best support you.
What are the technical requirements?
All documents are in PDF format. You must have at least the free version of Adobe Reader to use all form functions on templates and checklists. You can download the Adobe Reader for any operational system for free here. You can also read and fill out forms using the free app of the Adobe Reader for your mobile device.
Does my spouse/ partner need to be apart of the consultation session or can I do this on my own?
It is not mandatory for your parenting partner to join you for the in person session, however it is recommended. Ideally your childcare choice will be based on your family as a whole and thus, the process works best if both parties are involved in the decision making process. We understand that time can be precious so if one parent is unable to attend, we would ideally like for both parents to fill out the 'Family Assessment' together.
How do refunds and exchanges work?
We are happy to credit your account for any unused service packages to be used towards an alternative package, hourly consulting, or a downloadable resource from our store. Please contact us via email for assistance. We aim to please you, at this time we do not offer refunds for downloads and services. Email Holly with any concerns regarding any of our products or service.
What are the lateness and cancelation policies for the in person sessions?
There will be a $50 fee for all cancelations within 24hours of the scheduled session time. Late arrivals will be subject to an equal deduction of session time or will need to pay the prorated hourly rate ($200/hr) for time needed over the standard 60 minutes (Choice Package) or the 90 minute (Nanny Hiring Package).
If I am a returning Choice Package customer that has decided to hire a nanny after our session together, do I need to purchase the Nanny Package as well?
Check out our Nanny Add On Package or downloadable documents from our Store for families who have already purchased the Choice Package. Or send Holly an email to customize a package that works best for your unique situation.
