Getting Started: Our 1-1.5 hour in person or Skype Consultation
To start the process of finding you your nanny we require a non-refundable fee of $250 (Credited to the final invoice), an in- person, video- conferencing or phone consultation; a credit card and authorization stored on file; and an industry-standard signed contract.
Our Placement Fee: Due Upon Hire
Our placement fee of $2,500 is flat rate and due at the time of hire for both full time and part time permanent placement nannies.

What type of nannies do you place?
We place long-term full-time or part-time live-out nannies. At this time, we do not offer part-time nannies for positions of less than 20 hours per week, live-in nannies or temporary nannies. Because of current market challenges, we do not offer after-school (M-F 2:30-7:30) or summer nanny placements.
What is long-term placement?
Long-term means a planned commitment of 1 year+
Why is your fee flat-rate verses percentage of salary?
Clarity. Most agencies charge a placement fee based on a percentage (usually 10-20%) of the nanny's annual salaried income at the time of hire. We, however, are a small, personalized boutique agency built on relationships and trust in our community. We want you to feel confident and secure that the information we are providing you regarding nanny pricing and market is truthful and not based on collecting a higher placement fee for our pockets. Our goal is to work with your unique family to assist you in finding a nanny that not only matches your family's need for excellent childcare but also one that fits your family's budget.
Why do you charge the same for part-time and full-time nanny placements?
From years of working in the industry, we have found that searching for a reliable and quality part time employee is just as much work (if not more) than searching for a full- time nanny. We do not want to preform fast and easy placements that will not stick but rather find someone who will stay with your family long-term whether that is a part time or full time nanny.
What areas do you serve?
We offer coaching sessions through the NYC metro. Our nanny placement services are focused on the Hoboken, Jersey City, Weehawken, Edgewater, Union City, West New York and surrounding areas. If you have questions about our ability to place a nanny in your area, please contact us.
Where do you find your nannies?
Our nanny candidate comes to us through local parent groups, personal, and client referrals; our local nanny networks; college job boards; our website; targeted social media and word of mouth.
What do you require of your nanny candidates?
At least 21 years of age Legal authorization to work in the USA
Able to make at least a 1 year commitment to a family
At least TWO years of verifiable, paid childcare or early childhood education experience
A clear outline of their work history for the last 7 years
Three excellent professional references (at least two references need to be recent child-care/education related)
CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to be certified promptly
Good communication, punctual, professional, honest and polite.
Love and passion for educating children and helping families
Successful completion of the screening process
What is your screening process?
Step 1: After the initial phone or email submission form, we require the completion of an extensive application and phone interview.
Step 2: If a candidate meets the minimum requirements, we will schedule an in-person/video conferencing interview to discuss their experience, child-rearing phylosophies, preferred work environment and style as a caregiver/employee. We will also ask behavior based questions to look for polished professionalism, proficiency in the English language, congeniality and clear communication.
Step 3: Once this has all be completed, we will contact each of the candidate’s references via phone and ask detailed questions about their previous employee’s qualifications, performance, and competence to see if the individual has a history and reputation that matches their interview responses. We will also quiz the reference on what type of relationship they had with their nanny, why the employment ended, what age group they believe the nanny is best suited for, areas and tasks that they would not suggest the nanny be placed in charge of and more.
Step 4: After an offer of employment is made to a nanny candidate, a professional background investigation service will prepare a detailed report which will include:
Work and Education verification National and local criminal checks
Driving history/motor vehicle records
National sex offender registry check
Office of Foreign Asset-Homeland
Security Social security number verification
How many nannies should I expect to interview?
We work hard to not waste your time and only bring you the candidates that meet or closely match the specifications for both the position and personality of your unique family. The answer to this question depends but most clients interview between 2-5 nanny candidates. There is no limit on the number of interviews and we will continue to search for you until you find the “one”.
How long should I expect the process to take from starting with Choice Parenting to hiring my nanny?
This answer depends on the requirements of the search, your communication with Choice Parenting and your available to meet with candidates. Most families find their nanny between 2 weeks and 6 weeks after the search is underway.
What should I expect to pay for a nanny in the Hoboken/Jersey area?

The nanny- level of education, years of experience and special skills offered
The position- number of kids, schedule, number of hours, flexibility, job requirements and tasks required.
Benefits commonly include:
Paid sick days
Reimbursement for use of car on the job.
Most nannies receive guaranteed hours for the agreed upon schedule.
How are taxes handled?
A family who employs a nanny for more than $2,100 annually is the employer and cannot legally hire a nanny as an independent contractor. The employer will need to account for approximately 10% above gross wages. For more information please refer to our household payroll recommendation.
What if it does not work out with the nanny we hire?
Choice Parenting works hard to assist you in finding quality candidates that match your family needs long term. If the employment does not work out for any reason within the first year we will credit 25% of your placement fee towards your next search. Please see our Client Agreement for details.
